We are very fortunate to have the services of our talented Musical Director, James G R Campbell and our excellent Accompanist, John Horton, for our weekly rehearsals and concerts.
James G R Campbell
Musical Director

James is arguably a theologian who moonlights as an organist, conductor and composer or the reverse. He has held various musical positions around Aberdeen City and Shire and has given recitals in various cities around the world. His work, both as a theologian and composer/arranger, have made their way slowly into print, though rarely in their intended forms. James read Divinity at the University of Aberdeen and subsequently the theology of Mission and Ministry at Durham. He is a member of the Royal College or Organists, the Royal School of Church Music and the Association of British Choral Directors. He is a Licentiate of the Guild of Musicians and Singers and in 2025 was made a Fellow of the Fraternity of St Cecilia in recognition of more than 20 years involvement in church music.
John Horton
Accompanist

John grew up in Manchester and read Music and Theology at the University of Liverpool. During his time there he was privileged to study under Noel Rawsthorne before going on to study teaching at the University of Leeds. He began his teaching career in Accrington, working his way up to Head of Music at Whitby County High School in Ellesmere Port. From 2008-2017 he was Organist and Director of Music at St George’s Church in Stockport. John is now the Schools Choral Director with the National Schools Singing Programme in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Aberdeen, Assistant Director of Music at St Mary’s Cathedral, and Musical Director of the Diocesan Choir. He is also Organist to the University of Bolton.
