If you love to sing and want to be part of a sociable choir with like minded people who share your passion, you’ve come to the right place. Whatever your background, whether you are an experienced chorister or you haven’t sung in a group before and want to give it a try, we welcome singers of all ages for all parts. The ability to read music is an advantage but not essential. Our rehearsals run in two terms commencing in August for the Christmas Concert, and January to June for our Summer Concert.
Weekly Rehearsals and Social Opportunities –
What to Expect
Our rehearsals run from 7.30pm to 9.30pm on Wednesday evenings at St Andrew’s Church, Inverurie (in the Old Chapel). In a typical rehearsal we start off with the all important vocal warm-up before moving on to rehearsing our music. Early on in the term, when we are still learning the music, there is a focus on getting the correct pitch and timing. As the term progresses, we spend more time refining our performance, working on dynamics and phrasing as well as getting the smaller details right and ironing out any tricky bits! Practice sessions can sometimes be hard work as we grapple with unfamiliar pieces and challenging sections, but when it all starts to come together, it is so rewarding and joyful!

About half way through the evening, we take a well earned break to enjoy some refreshments (and if we’re lucky, some cake) as well as having a chance to relax and socialise.
Social Opportunities
Outwith the choir rehearsals we are a sociable bunch and like to meet up for a variety of social events including musical performances, walks/picnics, quizzes, ten pin bowling and group meals. Our choir brings people together in an informal and relaxed way and it’s a great opportunity to connect with people of all ages from all walks of life.

Taking the first step
Joining any new group can be daunting, but we would encourage you to come along to one of our rehearsals to meet our friendly, informal choir and see what we’re about. We operate a no obligation “try before you buy” policy which means that you can attend a few rehearsals before deciding if Inverurie Choral is right for you. Everyone is welcome at our choir regardless of their experience.
Check out our FAQs to find out more, or get in touch to tell us that you’re coming along so we can be ready to welcome you.
Can’t make rehearsals at the moment?
