Inverurie Choral, like many choirs, sings a bit of everything – from ABBA to Zadok you might say! Throughout its 30-year history ICS has prided itself on the breadth of music it has performed to a high standard.
While we and mainly focus on singing the “standard” choral society repertoire that one might expect, the choir has a long tradition of pairing these with “lighter” pieces.
It has always been a joy for Inverurie Choral to sing the premiere of many new compositions and arrangements (often written by our various musical directors.) While there may be too many of these to name, of note is “Bennachie” – especially written for the choir’s 10 th Anniversary by our founder, John Hearne.
Under our current musical director (James G.R. Campbell), we have usually tended to have a focus for each term and build our programmes around a single work or theme. This has prompted some creative thinking with how we tackle some of the music, but the challenge of singing different works in new ways is one that the choir relishes.
