What’s On

Next Concert

A modern retelling of the Christmas story in words and music. Despite the title, The Manchester Carols links to Inverurie as well as places around the world where there is conflict. Composed by Sacha Johnson Manning with story and lyrics by the former Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, it promises to give a different slant on Christmas while keeping sight of the traditions.

Under the direction of James G.R. Campbell, the choir is joined by pianist Catriona Mackenzie and soloists Ross Cumming and Susannah Thomasson.

These carols are for everybody, the believer and the non-believer, people of other faiths, the curious and anyone wishing to join in the Christmas celebrations.

Tickets may also be purchased
from members of the choir
or from Novello Gifts (West High St).

Next Come & Sing

Want the fun of singing Handel’s Messiah with a large choir without having to rehearse for months? Thought about joining a choir but never been sure where to start?

Come and join us in St Andrew’s Church, Inverurie, from 10:30am – 4pm to rehearse what is arguably the nations favourite piece of choral music. At 4pm, we will enjoy a sing through of the work, to which family, friends and members of the public are welcome to attend.

First written to raise money for the Foundling Hospital in 1742, the Messiah has been a favourite with choirs almost ever since. It tells the story of the birth of the Messiah, setting up the prehistory with the words of the Old Testament prophets, then the events of the birth of Jesus, his crucifixion and death, the resurrection and everything that came after – right to the very end of time where it takes us through the last judgement and into the glory of heaven promised at the beginning of the work.
